Madam Taylor-Pearce attended the Annie Walsh Memorial School. She holds a degree in Economics with Honors from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and an MBA in Leadership. Taylor-Pearce is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) U.K. and of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone (FCASL). Madam Taylor-Pearce has more than 27 years of experience in public and private-sector financial and administrative management. Her positions in the years have been influential including; Principal Finance Manager and head of administration for the institutional reform and capacity building project, finance and administrative manager for the public sector management support project, etc. She has won praise for helping change Sierra Leone’s public-sector accountability landscape, including her work in developing its 2016 Public Financial Management Act and other Public-sector oversight acts. Lara Taylor-Pearce began her career at KPMG in 1999. After 9 years in the private sector, she joined Sierra Leone’s accountant general’s office as a technical assistant. She was appointed Auditor General in 2011, having served as deputy since 2007. Since her appointment, she has put forward more than a thousand recommendations for improving financial management despite frequent obstacles from officials of government. Madam Taylor-Pearce and accountants at the Audit Service Sierra Leone oversee 34 Ministries, departments and agencies, 19 local councils, 190 chiefdoms, 64 statutory bodies and many donor-funded projects. The Auditor-General has the Sole prerogative to audit all government institutions in which the government has the majority interest and submit an annual report called The Auditor General’s Report to parliament at the end of the audit exercise. In addition to her official work, she has contributed immensely to helping vulnerable youth and is also a strong advocate for Women’s empowerment and gender parity issues. Madam Taylor-Pearce has an impeccable character. She is a devoted Christian and is happily married.
